FUND ADMINISTRATION / DTCC CONNECTIVITY

Make It Easy for RIAs and Custodians to Invest in Your Fund

DTCC's Alternative Investment Product (AIP) platform is the standard infrastructure connecting fund managers, administrators, broker-dealers, and custodians. We give you that pipe.

The Problem

Many RIAs and custodians prefer or require positions to flow through DTCC rather than log into sponsor portals. Without DTCC, you're limiting your distribution reach and creating manual work for wealth managers who want to invest.

What is DTCC / AIP?

DTCC's Alternative Investment Product (AIP) platform is the standard plumbing that connects fund managers, fund administrators, broker-dealers, and custodians for alternative investments.

  • Standardizes alternative investment trading, reporting, and money settlement
  • Eliminates manual processes and reduces operational risk
  • Positions and transactions automatically reflected in custodial accounts
  • Clean electronic feeds instead of manual spreadsheets or ad-hoc files

Business Outcomes

Access to Bigger Pools of Capital

Many RIAs and custodians require DTCC connectivity before they'll allocate to your fund. DTCC unlocks distribution at scale.

Operational Efficiency

Positions, transactions, and balances automatically reflected in custodial systems. No manual spreadsheets back and forth.

Better Investor Experience

Investors see your fund positions on their regular custodial statements alongside their other holdings.

Reduced Operational Risk

Standardized data flows reduce errors and ensure consistent reporting across all parties.

Who This Is For

Launching a Fund with RIA Distribution

Start with DTCC connectivity from day one to position your fund for wealth manager distribution.

Existing Funds Adding RIAs/BDs

Already have direct investors but want to expand into the RIA/BD channel? DTCC is the bridge.

Managers with Retirement Accounts

IRA custodians and retirement platforms rely on DTCC for alternative investment reporting.

Emerging Funds Planning RIA Distribution

Even if you're not there yet, wiring in DTCC now means you're ready the moment an RIA wants to bring in clients.

The Next Step For:

Emerging Funds Planning RIA Distribution

Position your fund for scale before you need it. DTCC connectivity costs less than the opportunity cost of turning away RIA capital.

Managers Targeting Retirement Accounts

IRA custodians, 401(k) platforms, and retirement accounts need DTCC-connected funds for proper reporting.

DTCC Connectivity FAQs

What is DTCC / AIP and why should I care?
DTCC's AIP platform is the standard infrastructure connecting fund managers, administrators, broker-dealers, and custodians for alternative investments. It lets your fund's positions and transactions flow directly into custodial systems like Schwab, Fidelity, and Pershing.
We don't need DTCC – investors just wire in directly.
Direct wires are fine today. DTCC becomes important when you start working with RIAs, broker-dealers, and retirement accounts. They want positions to appear in their custodial systems, not be tracked manually.
How long does it take to get DTCC connectivity set up?
Typical setup takes 2-4 weeks as part of onboarding. NAV handles the DTCC integration work; you provide fund and investor data.
Can we add DTCC later if we start with Transfer Agent only?
Yes. Many funds start with TA services and add DTCC when they're ready to expand into RIA/BD distribution.
Which custodians does DTCC connect to?
DTCC AIP connects to major custodians including Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, NFS, LPL, and many others. If an RIA uses a major custodian, they likely support DTCC AIP.
