FUND ADMINISTRATION / K-1 & TAX SUPPORT

End K-1 Chaos with Year-Round Fund Admin

K-1 season is always late, expensive, and stressful because your books aren't clean year-round. Fund administration keeps ledgers and investor accounts accurate all year, so your CPA gets a ready-to-use package instead of reconstructing history.

The Problem

Every year it's the same story: February arrives, your CPA starts asking for data, and your team scrambles to pull together spreadsheets, recreate transaction histories, and reconcile investor accounts. K-1s go out late, investors complain, and you're paying CPA rates for bookkeeping work.

The Solution: Clean Books All Year

Fund administration keeps your fund's books, investor capital accounts, and reconciliations accurate throughout the year. When tax season arrives, your CPA receives organized, reconciled data – not a puzzle to reassemble.

Faster K-1 Delivery

Many of our clients deliver K-1s by March 15 every year. When books are clean, there's nothing to reconstruct.

Lower Tax Prep Costs

Your CPA isn't spending billable hours recreating ledgers. They focus on tax strategy and compliance, not data cleanup.

Fewer Corrections

Year-round reconciliation catches errors before they become K-1 amendments. Investors receive accurate documents the first time.

Happier Investors

On-time, accurate K-1s protect your reputation. Late tax documents are one of the top investor complaints.

Before & After

Without Fund Admin

  • Spreadsheets and portals with inconsistent data
  • February scramble to gather transaction history
  • CPA reconstructing books at year-end
  • K-1s delivered late (April, May, or later)
  • Amendments and corrections throughout tax season
  • Investor complaints and frustration

With Fund Admin

  • Single source of truth maintained all year
  • Investor capital accounts always current
  • CPA receives organized data package
  • K-1s delivered by March 15
  • Accurate documents the first time
  • Investors receive timely, professional service

Work With Your CPA, Not Against Them

Fund administration complements your CPA – it doesn't replace them. We handle the accounting and investor records; they handle tax compliance and strategy.

Fund Admin Provides

  • Reconciled general ledger and trial balance
  • Investor capital account records
  • Transaction-level detail for all activity
  • Book-to-tax reconciliation workpapers
  • Organized data package for K-1 preparation

Your CPA Handles

  • K-1 and 1099 preparation
  • Tax return filings
  • Tax strategy and planning
  • State income tax calculations
  • Investor tax inquiries

Many CPAs prefer working with administered funds because they receive clean, organized data. It makes their job easier and your K-1s better.

Who This Is For

Sponsors Who Struggled Last Tax Season

If K-1s went out late, investors complained, or your CPA bill was higher than expected, fund admin solves the root cause.

Funds Considering a Back-Office Hire

Before you hire someone to manage spreadsheets and chase down transaction data, consider outsourced administration.

Growing Funds with More Investors

As investor count grows, the tax complexity multiplies. Fund admin scales with you.

Funds with Complex Structures

Multi-entity structures, waterfalls, and preferred returns create tax complexity. Professional administration handles it.

Common Concerns

"Our CPA already does everything."

Great CPAs focus on tax strategy and compliance – that's their expertise. Fund administration handles the year-round bookkeeping and investor accounting so your CPA isn't doing data cleanup at $400/hour.

"We're too small to need this."

Smaller funds often benefit most. You probably don't have the budget for a full-time accountant, but you still need accurate books. Fund admin gives you professional accounting at a fraction of the cost of a hire.

"Can't we just hire someone part-time?"

Part-time hires often lack the specialized fund accounting knowledge. They're also unavailable when you need them most (tax season). A fund administrator provides a team of specialists with consistent processes.

K-1 & Tax Support FAQs

How does fund admin help with K-1s and tax season?
Because books and investor ledgers are kept clean all year, your CPA receives a ready-to-use data package instead of reconstructing history. K-1s go out earlier with fewer corrections.
Will you replace our CPA?
No. Fund administration complements your CPA. We handle year-round accounting and investor records; they handle tax compliance, K-1 preparation, and tax strategy.
Can you prepare K-1s directly?
Yes, with our K-1 Production Add-On. We coordinate K-1 preparation, review, and delivery. For many funds, we work with their existing CPA who handles the final K-1 production using our data.
How early can K-1s be delivered?
Many administered funds deliver K-1s by March 15. The timeline depends on receiving final audit numbers and asset valuations, but clean books eliminate the data-gathering bottleneck.
What about state withholding and UBTI tracking?
Full fund administration includes tracking for state withholding requirements and Unrelated Business Taxable Income (UBTI) for tax-exempt investors.
What if we're mid-year? Can we still start?
Yes. We can onboard mid-year with historical data migration. Starting earlier in the year means cleaner books for the next tax season.
